Our History

Thanks to Dr Aline Boulanger’s vision and dedication, the AQDC held its very first meeting in January of 2004. Dr Boulanger was the driving force behind the first meeting of those who would become AQDC’s founders and administrators. Nine of the twelve founding members of the board of administration were people living with chronic pain and were representing Quebec’s largest pain treatment clinics. All of the founding members were volunteers who wanted to make a difference for those living with chronic pain.

The AQDC has developed several projects including a campaign addressing opioid use and a pain scale chart that helps people with chronic pain identify their pain levels. The association also helped to promote Y’a de la visite!, a children’s book that aims to educate children about pain. The AQDC planned and organized two consecutive art opening events, gathering together artists living with chronic pain.
